Terms of sale and use

Clear terms for an unusual product.

These terms apply to the Hauntware website, early-access pre-orders, and personal use of released desktop builds.

Effective June 11, 2026

Early-access status

Hauntware is in active development. A purchase is a pre-order for the first packaged desktop build and early-access updates through version 1.0. Features, supported systems, model requirements, and delivery timing may change as development continues.

License

Once a build is delivered, you receive a revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Hauntware for personal use. You may not resell, redistribute, publicly host, remove ownership notices from, or use the product to create a competing commercial service.

Requirements and local models

Hauntware is designed to use Ollama and locally installed models. You are responsible for a compatible computer, sufficient storage and memory, installing required third-party software, and complying with the licenses of any models you choose to run.

Payments

Prices are shown before purchase. Taxes may be calculated by the payment provider where required. A Hauntware early-access license is a one-time purchase unless a different offer is clearly presented and accepted by you. Payment disputes and chargebacks may suspend delivery while they are resolved.

Refunds and cancellation

The refund policy forms part of these terms. It provides a voluntary refund window in addition to any mandatory rights you have under applicable consumer law.

Acceptable use

You may not use Hauntware to violate law, compromise another person's device or privacy, distribute malicious code, or interfere with the website, checkout, update, or support systems.

Availability and warranties

Early-access software may contain errors, change significantly, or be temporarily unavailable. To the extent allowed by law, it is provided without implied warranties beyond those that cannot legally be excluded. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer protections.

Liability

To the extent allowed by law, Hauntware is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or losses caused by unsupported modifications, third-party models, or failure to keep backups. Our aggregate liability relating to a purchase will not exceed the amount paid for that purchase, except where law requires otherwise.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms for future purchases or releases. Material changes affecting an existing purchase will be communicated reasonably and will not remove accrued statutory rights.
